What does a Listserv do?
Each list is actually a dummy e-mail address that the LISTSERV server checks for incoming mail. When Listserv finds some e-mail for a list, it processes that e-mail. In our case, that mail message is then sent to all the 'subscribers' of the FMA Listserv.
What does FMA's Listserv do for me?
By subscribing to the FMA Listserv, you will receive reminders and important new information from the FMA officers through your TAMU email account.
How do I subscribe to the FMA Listserv?
Send an email to
listserv@listserv.tamu.edu from your email account. You do not need a
subject line. The only thing you need to do is type this command in the body of
your email:
SUBSCRIBE AM-FMA firstname
lastname
For instance, for myself, I would send an email similar to the following:
To:
listserv@listserv.tamu.edu
Subject: (Leave Blank)
Body: SUBSCRIBE AM-FMA (Your Name)
This essentially tells the
listserv to add you as a subscriber to the AM-FMA listserv (Texas A&M's FMA
Organization) with your name. You do not need to put your email address because
the listserv uses the reply address attached to your email.
How do I unsubscribe from the Listserv?
Simply send an email to
listserv@listserv.tamu.edu from the same email account you subscribed
from. Use this command in the body of your email:
UNSUB AM-FMA
That is all you need, for instance here is an example using myself:
To:
listserv@listserv.tamu.edu
Subject: (Leave Blank)
Body:
UNSUB AM-FMA
